(4) Agnieszka Radwanska vs Sabine Lisicki
Agnieszka Radwanska and Sabine Lisicki will do battle in the third round for the second week in a row. Their encounter in Montreal wasn't the best spectacle; hopefully Thursday’s match is of a higher quality.
After claiming her first title of the season at the Rogers Cup, Aga made a positive start in Cincinnati. The Pole was too classy for Kurumi Nara, cruising to a 6-2 6-2 victory. I’m certain Aga wont be forgetting about her heartbreaking semi-final loss to Sabine at Wimbledon last year any time soon. The Pole will be extra determined to make it back to back victories over the German on Thursday.
Sabine blasted her way past doubles partners Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani in her opening two matches in Cincinnati. On both occasions, Sabine won the first set before being forced into a decider. Errani pushed Sabine all the way to a third set tiebreaker but the Germans power got her over the line eventually. She will need to raise her consistency if she is to knock off Radwanska.
Sabine was in control of their third round encounter last week in Montreal, however unforced errors crept into her game at the wrong time. Sabine undoubtedly has the ability to blast Aga off the court, however Aga’s craft and consistency will prevail more often than not.
Prediction: (4) Agnieszka Radwanska to defeat Sabine Lisicki in straight sets
