Stanford R2: (2) Agnieszka Radwanska vs (Q) Misaki Doi
2013 runner-up Agnieszka Radwanska will open her 2015 Bank of the West Classic campaign on Thursday evening when she comes up against Japanese qualifier Misaki Doi. The Pole will be looking to build on her positive grass court season in the lead up to her title defence at the Rogers Cup next week and the upcoming U.S Open.
After a miserable start to the season, Aga turned her form around in the United Kingdom. Aga made the final in Eastbourne before reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon. Aga has never fared too well during the North American swing, she will certainly be focusing on achieving a much better result at this year’s U.S Open.
Misaki Doi has spent the majority of her year battling through qualifying draws. Doi has successfully qualified for a number of main draws however she has been unable to cause any damage. Doi advanced to the second round courtesy of a 6-3 7-6 victory over CiCi Bellis.
In their only previous encounter, Radwanska thumped Doi 6-1 6-1 in Tokyo back in 2011.It’s hard to see Doi causing Radwanska too many problems in this one. Aga will be far too solid and should kick-start her U.S Open series with a convincing victory.
Prediction: Agnieszka Radwanska to defeat Misaki Doi in 2 sets
