Petra Kvitova vs. Elina Svitolina, Singapore RR Prediction

WTA Finals Singapore, White Group match prediction
?? (4) Petra Kvitova vs. ?? (6) Elina Svitolina

Kvitova’s 7-1 head-to-head record over Svitolina is very surprising. This is a match-up that features a big contrast in styles, one of the most powerful and aggressive players on tour against one of the quickest and best defenders. One would think that Svitolina’s defensive skills and consistency would be good enough to beat Kvitova more often than their head-to-head record suggests.

I’m going to go for the upset here and side with Svitolina. The courts in Singapore have been notoriously slow over the years and something similar is to be expected this year. This should favour Svitolina in this match-up. After a long season, there are signs that Kvitova is running out of energy whilst Svitolina is seemingly primed to have a good week after some recent disappointments. Kvitova has not played for a few weeks and there is a good chance the consistency and defensive ability of Svitolina will be a tough task for a potentially rusty Kvitova.

Prediction: Elina Svitolina to defeat Petra Kvitova in 3 sets
