Ladies Championship, Gstaad, ???️ Semi-Final Preview
SF #1: (3) ?? Anett Kontaveit vs ?? Tereza Martincova
Anett Kontaveit has continued her winning ways in Gstaad. Kontaveit is in the best form of her career having won 16 of her last 19 matches. Kontaveit won her first title in s-Hertogenbosch last month and will now have career title number 2 in her sight. Kontaveit will be a strong favourite heading into her semi-final clash against young Czech Tereza Martincova on Saturday. Martincova will be aiming to reach her first WTA tour level final.

Anett Kontaveit stormed into the semi-final stage in Gstaad courtesy of a comprehensive 6-2 6-4 win over Carina Witthoeft on Friday. Kontaveit started the event with a comfortable 6-1 6-3 win over Martina Trevisan before being pushed to three sets by Anna Kalinskaya, eventually prevailing 6-4 4-6 6-4. Perhaps the tough match against Kalinskaya was what the 21-year-old needed, her quarter-final win over Witthoeft was her best performance of the tournament and she now seems destined for a crack at another title in 2017.

Tereza Martincova is into her second WTA tour level semi-final. Martincova kicked off her Gstaad campaign with a strong 6-1 6-2 win over Irina Khromacheva before claiming the biggest win of her career as she upset the top seeded Caroline Garcia 7-5 7-6. Martincova booked her spot in the semi-finals with a 3-6 6-1 7-5 win against Antonia Lottner.

This will be the first career meeting between Kontaveit and Martincova. Kontaveit looks to have a clear edge heading into this match, clearly the Estonian is the far more accomplished player. Kontaveit is likely to push Martincova around in this match-up and despite some resistance from Martincova, Kontaveit should be too good.
