Dominika Cibulkova vs Jennifer Brady, Wimbledon R2 Preview

Wimbledon ???? Day 3, R2 Match Preview:
(8) ?? Dominika Cibulkova vs ?? Jennifer Brady

Dominika Cibulkova survived an epic first round encounter against Andrea Petkovic on Monday, just edging past the German 9-7 in the third to break a string of four consecutive losses. Monday’s win may be exactly what Cibulkova needs to reignite her season, the Slovakian will look to build momentum and win back-to-back matches for the first time since Miami when she comes up against Jennifer Brady in the second round at SW19.

Dominika Cibulkova arrived in London in poor form having not won consecutive matches since Miami. Cibulkova will me desperate for a good event at SW19 having failed to reach the second week in the first two Grand Slams of the year. The Slovakian is defending quarter-final points from last year and came extremely close to a first round exit on Monday. Cibulkova managed to edge past Andrea Petkovic 6-3 3-6 9-7 on her 6th match point in a match that lasted just under 3 hours. A hard-fought gritty win may be exactly what Cibulkova needs to boost her confidence and turn her form around.

This will be the first career meeting between Cibulkova and Brady. The American set up a second round clash with the 8th seed after cruising past Danka Kovinic 6-3 6-1. Brady has the potential to make this a close match because of her solid serve and baseline game. Nevertheless, Cibulkova should be too classy for Brady and is likely to outlast Brady in the majority of baselines rallies. Cibulkova will have gained confidence from her big win over Petkovic and I suspect she will raise her level here.

Prediction: Dominika Cibulkova to defeat Jennifer Brady in 2 sets
