Kiki Bertens vs Anett Kontaveit, Gstaad Final Preview

Ladies Championship, Gstaad, ???️? Final Preview
(2) ?? Kiki Bertens vs (3) ?? Anett Kontaveit

Sunday’s final at the Ladies Championship, Gstaad presented by IXION Services promises to be a thriller when 2016 runner-up Kiki Bertens takes on a red-hot Anett Kontaveit. Kiki Bertens has been one of the most consistent performers on a clay court on the WTA tour over the last few years, Bertens has amassed a 47/11 win/loss record on the surface since the start of last year and will be eager to go one step better in Gstaad and win the title on Sunday. In her way is Anett Kontaveit, the Estonian is in the form of her career as she enters Sunday’s final having won 17 of her last 20 matches. Both players have some impressive numbers by their name heading into what should be an extremely close final in Gstaad, it looks very difficult to separate the pair heading into this match.

Kiki Bertens has cruised into a second consecutive final in Gstaad without dropping a set. Bertens started the tournament with a 6-3 6-1 thrashing of Aleksandra Krunic before beating Anna Zaja 6-4 6-2. Bertens faced her only real test of the week at the quarter-final stage when she came up against Johanna Larsson, Bertens produced a solid performance to progress with a 6-4 6-4 victory. Bertens advanced to Sunday’s final with another easy day at the office. Bertens won the first set 6-1 over Sara Sorribes Tormo before the Spaniard retired injured. Overall, Bertens has not had to expend much energy this week and will be very fresh heading into the final.

Anett Kontaveit has continued her awesome recent form in Gstaad. Kontaveit has also been relatively untroubled on route to the final. The Estonian started the week with a 6-1 6-3 win over Martina Trevisan before dropping a set for the only time this week as she fought past Ana Kalinskaya 6-4 4-6 6-4. Kontaveit has raised her level since her scare against Kalinskaya. The 21-year-old came through the quarter-final stage with a 6-2 6-4 triumph over Carina Witthoeft before securing her spot in the final with a 6-4 6-1 win over Tereza Martincova.

The only previous match between the pair ended with a 6-3 6-4 win for Kontaveit on a hard court in New Haven last year. A switch to clay will mean Bertens has a much greater chance in Sunday’s final in Gstaad.

This looks like a really even match-up. Both Bertens and Kontaveit enter this final in great form and both are full of confidence at the moment. The upside for Kontaveit is probably greater but I think the surface favours Bertens in this match-up. Bertens record on clay can’t be ignored, she is extremely tough to beat on this surface. Bertens has a more reliable serve and will have more time to handle Kontaveit’s heavy strokes on this surface. Bertens will be able to dictate more often than not and I suspect she just edge past Kontaveit to claim the title in Gstaad on Sunday.

Prediction: Kiki Bertens to defeat Anett Kontaveit in 3 sets

    • Hello, I am a little ill so decided to take the week off from following tennis. Will be back next week for the entire U.S Open swing!! 🙂

As part of the new additions, can you please add your profile page on your website so that all your fans worldwide can know the brains (and all the hard work) of the person behind Wtaaddict ?

What are your strong leans for the Bastad and Nanchang QF’s of today?

For Bastad, I am leaning on both the dogs to win in 3 sets maybe. but betting on the +4.5 handicap points of Mertens and +2 points on Siniakova!

    For Nanchang,

I am leaning on the FAV Yafan Wang to win in 3 sets (over to hit and is my bet) and the FAV Shuai Peng (ML) to win in 2 sets!

Wtaaddict, can you please give your expert opinion of who will win in the above 4 fights?

The Wang fight starts at 4 :05 AM Central Standard Time.

    Eagerly awaiting your reply!

    Your Sincere fan!

    • Hello, thanks for your comment.

I would stick with Garcia and Wozniacki in Bastad, but I think Wozniacki’s odds are a little short.

In Nanchang I have no feelings about the Wang vs Hibino match, can’t see why Hibino can’t win… Peng is the clear favourite in the other match and should win in straight sets

      • Thanks a ton wtaaddictcom with your quick reply and picks!

I generally bet Garcia and Wozniacki. They are my FAV’s. But currently, they are not in top form and playing their best, I think. Hence their dog opponents can upset them or atleast meet the handicap points I think. But betting on the Over also in another slip for both matches. Garcia tends to drop form suddenly in between her matches and siniakova is suddenly playing very well(but I see some holes in her game)!

Wang has better form and Hibino the experience. I thought they will cancel out and will go to a decider!

You are right, Peng is the clear FAV. Because of her low odds, put her in a parlay and bet -1.5 peng SU, which is very possible, I think!

Thanks again for your lightning quick positive reply. really appreciate it wtaaddictcom. Hope I can one day address you by your real, god (parents are like god) given name! Just kidding!

          • Great wtaaddictcom! Your hibino and peng picks won! Congrats! I bet both besides siniakova (who won) and woz small besides the over also!

Can Hibino win against peng tomorrow? What are Hibino’s & peng’s strengths and which will dominate for a win?

I think peng will use her experience to grind out a 3 set win (2 sets win possible?)probably with hibino playing well at nanchang! Right?

  3. wtaaddictcom, Who wins between wozniaki and Siniakova?

My stats comparison is telling that Hibino and Siniakova are gonna win! They might cover the handicap spread and meet the min. over games as stats are indicating that the dogs will win, I think.

Do we ignore the stats? I am confused! Both the dogs have good form also or better form than the fav’s in current tournament? Do we ignore that also? I am confused!

Need some direction here. What rule do we adopt while predicting the winner?

    • I don’t often look too deeply at stats. I highly doubt Wozniacki or Peng will lose. Wozniacki has lost many finals this year and simply must win here, I think Peng’s odds are too short and Hibino may cover the handicap but Peng will win

      • Ok, thanks. Wozniacki and Peng are one of my favorite players and I want them to win esp. woz. who has lost all finals and I lost many bets on Woz. also! They both are highly rated also, so should technically win.

But, I am very worried of the upsets which are happening too often against all logic/ranking. Like Siniakova beating the big FAV Caroline Garcia in the SF’s!

I think even siniakova will cover the handicap and may even beat Woz, who has played weaker opposition than siniakova. I think in both matches the Over games (or even 3 sets) can hit if both parties fight hard. Keeping fingers crossed! Lets see what god has in store.

        Thanks for your insight’s wtaaddictcom.

        • wtaaddictcom, I changed my 2nd pick to Peng after your above advice. Thnx for the same. 1st pick/slip=Had already bet Hibino to cover the handicap (b4 talking to you) which I lost. Peng was too strong for hibino.

But, won big bet on Siniakova +4 handicap points! Looks like the dry spell of Wozniacki will continue for some time! Looks like Woz becomes nervous in the big moments of the finals and the big expectations from her …and loses!

wtaaddictcom, as I am a regular bettor, i am definitely interested in the US OPEN SERIES, DAILY BETTING ADVICE. I also bet on ATP matches.
