Kristina Mladenovic vs Jennifer Brady, Roland Garros R1 Preview

Roland Garros, ??? R1 Preview + Prediction
(13) ?? Kristina Mladenovic vs ?? Jennifer Brady

Kristina Mladenovic enters Roland Garros on high and with the weight of a nation on her shoulders. Expectations have never been higher for Mladenovic heading into her home Grand Slam. Mladenovic recently reached a career high ranking of 14 in the world after a stunning run of form that saw her reach back-to-back finals in Stuttgart and Madrid. The Frenchwoman will begin her Roland Garros campaign on Monday where she will come up against American Jennifer Brady.

Kristina Mladenovic is in career best form. Mladenovic has already reached 4 finals in 2017, including two on clay (In Stuttgart and Madrid). It will be interesting to see if Mladenovic can transfer that form to Roland Garros, with the vocal Parisian crown behind her, there is no limit to how far she could go.

Jennifer Brady will be competing in the main draw at Roland Garros for the first time. The American will take confidence from her run at the Australian Open where she came through the main draw to reach the fourth round in what was her very first main draw appearance at a Grand Slam.

This will be the first career meetings between Mladenovic and Brady. I expect Mladenovic to breeze through this one. Brady’s game is not well suited to clay, the American enters this match on a three-match losing streak. Mladenovic can match and better Brady’s baseline game but also has better movement and far better touch and variety and is far more comfortable on a clay court.

Prediction: Kristina Mladenovic to defeat Jennifer Brady in 2 sets
