Lin Zhu vs Eugenie Bouchard, Taiwan Open R1 Preview

Taiwan Open, Taipei City R1 Preview
?? Lin Zhu vs ?? (wc) Eugenie Bouchard

After another early exit at a Grand Slam, Eugenie Bouchard finds herself ranked outside the top 100. Bouchard was awarded a wild card into the Taiwan Open where she will be competing for the first time. Bouchard will begin her Taiwan Open campaign against China’s Lin Zhu.

Lin Zhu showed some decent form during the Australian summer. Zhu was able to navigate her way through a tough Australian Open qualifying draw before being beaten by Su-Wei Hsieh in a tough 3 set match. Zhu’s loss to Hsieh ended being an okay result given Hsieh did make the fourth round

Bouchard made a poor start to 2018, continuing her run of bad form. Eugenie Bouchard managed to win just 1 of 6 matches down under. Bouchard lost all 3 of her matches at the Hopman Cup before suffering an opening round loss in Hobart. At the Australian Open Bouchard managed to beat Oceane Dodin in the first round before easily succumbing to eventual runner-up Simona Halep in straight sets.

This will be the first career meeting between the pair.

  1. Genie, oh, Genie. I just can’t take you in any wagers until I see some consistency. I want to, I really do, but get out there and WIN!

  2. I think Zhu has a good chance of winning this. Bouchard is in poor form as usual whereas Zhu did well in Australia. Zhu reached the quarterfinals of this event last year.

  3. Zhu for the W.
