Taiwan Open, Taipei City R1 Preview
?? (7) Magda Linette vs ?? (Q) Xinyun Han
Magda Linette begins her Taiwan Open campaign on Tuesday with an opening round clash against Chinese qualifier Xinyun Han. This looks like a good match-up for Linette, the Pole has won the two previous meetings between the pair and should be very comfortable on the indoor hard courts in Taipei.
Magda Linette had a decent Aussie summer. Linette made it to the third round at the Australian Open which equalled her best previous result at a Grand Slam. Linette claimed solid wins over Jennifer Brady and Daria Kasatkina before succumbing to a red-hot Denisa Allertova. Linette will look to build on that result moving forward, the seventh seed will see the Taiwan Open as a good opportunity to go on a deep run.
Xinyun Han’s form is not at all impressive heading into this match. Han failed to qualify for the Australian Open main draw, beaten by Kayla Day in the second round of qualifying. Han successfully qualified for the main draw at the Taiwan Open thanks to a couple of victories over far inferior opponents, though it was still a struggle.
Linette has won both of the previous meetings between the pair, most recently a 7-6 6-4 win in Hong Kong back in 2014.
