Agnieszka Radwanska vs Alison Van Uytvanck, Miami R2 Preview

Miami Open, ????? R2 Preview
?? (30) Agnieszka Radwanska vs. ?? Alison Van Uytvanck

The 2012 Miami Open champion Agnieszka Radwanska will begin her 2018 Miami campaign with a second round clash against Belgium’s Alison Van Uytvanck. Unfortunately for Radwanska she has been unable to gain any momentum in 2018, Aga will hope to ignite her season in Miami at a tournament where she has won the 6th most matches of all active players. Also in Radwanska’s favour is her perfect 2-0 record over Van Uytvanck.

Agnieszka Radwanska arrives in Miami having lost 3 consecutive matches, including 2 consecutive opening round defeats. Radwanska has amassed a modest overall win/loss record of 7/6 in 2018, kicking on from 2017 where she had her worst season in the last 5 years. Whilst Radwanska’s results have not been great of late, in hindsight the draws she has been dealt were very tough. In Doha Radwanska was beaten by Kvitova who went on to win the title, in Dubai Radwanska was beaten by Kasatkina who went on to reach the final whilst most recently in Indian Wells Radwanska suffered an opening round loss to the eventual champion: Naomi Osaka.

Alison Van Uytvanck advanced to the second round in Miami with a hard-fought 3 set win over Kateryna Bondarenko. Van Uytvanck claimed a 6-7 7-5 6-1 win over the Ukrainian, a gutsy win having come so close to a straight set defeat. Van Uytvanck reminded us all of what she is capable of when she stormed to the title in Budapest which ended in a notable 3 set win over Dominika Cibulkova.

Radwanska has won both of the previous matches between the pair, both were on a clay court. A 6-2 6-1 win in Brussels in 2012 and more recently a 6-7 6-2 6-3 win at Roland Garros in 2017. Can Radwanska extend her record over the Belgian to a perfect 3-0?
